A pet pig from Banks County ended up in Cornelia after getting loose. He was reunited with his family after a plea from the Cornelia Police Department through social media.
“Special thanks to Habersham County Animal Control for their diligence in finding the owner,” a post on Facebook stated. “Mr. Oinker made his way to Cornelia all the way from Northern Banks County. He has been returned to the owner and is safe and sound.”
After a short foot chase, the pig was taken into custody and transported to Habersham County Animal Control.
The post from the police department made light of the situation as did several comments. The original post stated, “After several attempts to ID the suspect his hoof print was taken and ran through AFIS. Still no positive identification has been made. Based on his colors we have determined he is a member of the Potbelly Bacon Crew. He’s been charged with fleeing, obstruction and rooting in public. We are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.”
